Jr. Brahmas Join Western States Hockey League

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (May 21)—NYTEX Sports Centre, home of the Central Hockey League (CHL) Texas Brahmas is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the Western States Hockey League (WSHL). NYTEX has acquired a Junior A franchise in the WSHL, preparation begins immediately for a team that will play in the fall.

The team will compete in the WSHL – Midwest Conference alongside rivals in El Paso, Texas, Tulsa, Okla., Rio Rancho, N.M. and Boulder, Colo. The league also features an eight team Western Conference, featuring teams in California, Arizona and Idaho. This addition makes the Brahmas association the only team in North America to feature teams at the Tier II, Tier III and professional levels.

“What a tremendous addition to the Brahmas hockey family,” said Texas Brahmas Head Coach, Dan Wildfong, “this great natural progression for midget age hockey players creates exposure, presenting local players the opportunity to play college and beyond”.

Junior Brahmas Head of Coaches, Jeremy Law, is currently developing plans for the upcoming season and is elated to be affiliated with the league again. “Opportunities in the WSHL are the perfect complement for the great, local athletes coming through Junior Brahmas organization.”

Law previously participated in the WSHL as both player and coach, which included a Thorne Cup Championship at the helm of the Fort Worth Texans in 2006.
