Texas Brahmas Youth Hockey Association: Scholarship Guidelines

The Texas Brahmas Youth Hockey Association will accept donations for youth hockey players. The association was established in 1998. When funds are available, 100% of these donations are used to offset the cost of season fees. Scholarship funds will be awarded based on financial need, parent/player involvement and volunteer efforts. Participants that have a legitimate need for financial assistance may qualify, please read scholarship guidelines carefully.

The application must be filled out completely and submitted to the association by September 1, 2011.

The Texas Brahmas Youth Hockey Association will also accept donations on your player’s behalf from sources that you solicit (i.e. friends, family, employers or local businesses). For further information on this program please consult your age group leader or the association president.

Scholarship Guidelines

  • Scholarship awards will be dependent upon the financial status of the account used to fund the TBYHA scholarship fund.
  • The individual scholarship shall be limited to $2,500 per recipient this year.
  • Scholarships will be awarded on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis. Any applicant with a combined adjusted gross income (typically shown on the bottom line of page one of IRS Form 1040) of $100,000 or more will not qualify for a scholarship award.
  • A complete application* must be submitted to the TBYHA to the organization president or age group Commissioner on or before September 1, 2011.
  • The TBYHA scholarship committee, as well as the organization executive board will review all applications for the scholarship and will notify all applicants as quickly as possible whether or not they have qualified for a scholarship award.
  • The player for which a scholarship application is submitted shall include a letter from the player (not the parent) that contains a description of him or her self and their hockey experience.
  • In the event that a player leaves the Texas Brahmas Youth Hockey Association during the season in which a scholarship has been awarded, 100% of the scholarship award must be refunded back to the association.
